Members of the ECHL throughout the majority of the early-1930s to the early-1950s, the Atlantic City Sea Gulls played their home games out of the historic Atlantic City Convention Hall, later known as Boardwalk Hall. We have four vintage team photos of the Sea Gulls, including an example that’s been team-signed from 1935-36. The standard 8” x 10” or a bit smaller, three photos feature group shots of the Sea Gulls on ice, with one example dated 1940-41, while the other pair are undated by originate from the same era. All three photos also feature stamps on verso from photographers Fred Hess & Son of Atlantic City. The team-signed photo from 1935-36 (6 ¼” x 10”) features 16 members pictured including the coach and trainer, with each image signed. Individuals who signed the 1935-36 Atlantic City Sea Gulls team-signed photo include Ty Anderson, Ted Hunter, John McKinnon, Armand Raymond, Harold Dewey, Gordon Wait, Mel Slater, Vince Papike, Bill Roberts, Jack Kane, Al Foster, Bruce McKillop, Herb Foster, Ray Levia, trainer Ike Gould and coach Red MacKenzie. All four photos exhibit condition issues, with surface creases and shrinkage for two of the examples including the signed photo, with all four experiencing moderate toning. There is also some light staining, surface, corner and edge wear present on each example. Items from the short-lived Sea Gulls franchise are seldom found, making the offered examples especially noteworthy.
