Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
The 1964 Winter Olympic Ice Hockey tournament in Innsbruck was recognized as representing three essential titles, with the tournament sanctioned as the IOC’s Olympic Championship, it was also sanctioned by the IIHF as the World Championship, as well as the European Championships for 1964. We have two original ticket books for two different locations from the venue for the 64 total hockey games played, with one example housing 32 tickets for games played at the “Olympia-Eisstadion” (3” x 7 ½”), while the second booklet contains 31 tickets for the “Kunsteisbahn Messehalle” (2 ½” x 7”). All examples are full tickets still affixed to the ticket books with the stubs, with only three tickets currently detached.
We should note that several pages of research material from our consignor will be included, with his research concluding that the ticket for match #22 which is omitted from this collection, may not have been printed to begin with. Each ticket booklet remains in wonderful condition, with just expected handling wear present. The three detached tickets also present beautifully, with just light wear. There is also a pen notation along the front left hand portion of the “Kunsteisbahn Messehalle” booklet.
