Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016

In 1982-83, Wayne Gretzky had 71 goals and 196 points to win his third straight Art Ross Trophy and fourth straight Hart Trophy. The Great One’s Edmonton Oilers game-used Titan TPM 2020 stick from that season has his original tape jobs on the knob and on the blade, which is missing a few wraps towards the toe. "99" is handwritten in blue marker both on the lower shaft and again higher up, between Wayne’s tape job on the knob and the "W. Gretzky" stamp. "WG" is handwritten in pencil on the heel of the blade, and the "Mar 31 1982" date stamp sits above it on the lower back of the shaft. Comes with Shawn Chaulk’s signed LOA.
Game use shows in the worn-through portion of the tape on the bottom edge of the blade and black marks on the shaft. The 1981-82 Oilers played their last regular season game on April 4, 1982, and played five playoffs games from April 7-13, so this stick was used in the following 1982-83 season.
