Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Extremely popular throughout the mid-20th century, table top hockey games came in a variety of sizes and models. In this lot we have a seldom seen Foster Hewitt Hockey Game, along with a pair made by Munro that are more commonly found. At roughly 11” x 23” x 3 ½”, the Hewitt game made by Reliable features plastic and metal construction, with well-detailed metal players. The referee pieces have broken off, with a few loose pieces accompanying. All players are in place including the goalies, with the game surviving in very good condition. The original box is also included, and it remains in good condition with some water damage, but perfect for display. The Munro games are identical in design, both measuring roughly 14 ½” x 37” x 5”, with plastic, metal and wood construction. One game is in working order, just missing one of the wooden knobs added to the players, while the second example has one of the pulley levers detached but present. An original ball-bearing (puck) is also included, with both games in good condition showing wear to the painted surfaces.
