Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Focusing on hockey in Quebec, we have a great little collection of vintage photos, programs and mini-sticks, with a few signed items included from Toe Blake, Dickie Moore and Bert Olmstead. First, we have a pair of large photo albums, with one filled with 21 vintage photos (ranging in size from 3 ¼” x 5 ¼” to 8" x 10") along with newspaper clippings, while the second album has mostly clippings, with a few programs and vintage ribbons thrown in. Next we have 27 programs all Quebec-centric, with the majority from the 1930s. Teams include Laval, Quebec Aces, Villeray, St-Lambert, St-Jerome, Iberville, Lachine, Verdun, Montreal Royals, Shawinigan Falls and others. We also have a pair of Habs programs from the early-1940s, along with a pair for the Bruins from the late-1930s (one is coverless). Next we have a Gordie Howe “545” career goal booklet from 1963, A D&R catalog from 1938-39, a Sweet Caporal guide from 1939-40, a pair of French-language books including one profiling the Summit Series and a QAHA Intermediate Champions jacket crest from 1939. Next we have a small Senior League schedule from 1952-53 (2 ¾” x 6”) that has been signed on the cover by Toe Blake, a Gerry McNeil mini one-piece hockey stick signed by Moore and Olmstead in ballpoint, along with a pair of advertising mini-sticks, with an example from Torspo, along with one from Artis with a facsimile Larry Robinson signature. The majority of the programs remain in good condition, with expected wear from over half a century of handling which can include loose staples, creases, toning, surface and spine wear along with the odd dog-eared page. The photos and clippings in the two albums can be removed, but please note the majority seem to have been in the albums most of their lives, and have adhered somewhat to the material, with some more “stuck” than others.
