Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023

Originally selected 12th overall by the Montreal Canadiens at the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Ryan McDonagh would never suit up for the Canadiens, instead being traded to a different red, white and blue franchise in the New York Rangers where he would play for eight years and serve as captain for three and a half seasons. Offered here, is this jersey worn by McDonagh during round one of the 2013 NHL Playoffs against the Washington Capitals. Made by Reebok, a size “58” flag tag is affixed to the collar, with a Rangers barcode affixed above along with a Steiner Sports hologram while NHL and Reebok crests reside over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Styled with “Rangers” placed diagonally across the chest in blue-over-red drop-shadow tackle twill, McDonagh’s number “27” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with “McDonagh” across the affixed arching nameplate. Despite being worn for just four games, the jersey shows good game use. Stick marks are observed over the front, right side, right sleeve, back of the right shoulder and the reverse number "2", while an unrepaired hole is found at the bottom of the left elbow. Additional wear through board burns to the bottom blue stripe on the left sleeve and left shoulder are also seen. Of note, a small stain is found near the left cuff not associated with game-use. Additionally, the jersey is photo-matched with Getty Image #168527273 (May 10th, 2013 vs Washington – Game 5 ECQF) to the board burn in the bottom blue stripe and unrepaired hole both near the left elbow. A Steiner LOA will accompany the piece.
