Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2023
Produced as a premium to the 1933-34 Canadian Chewing Gum hockey card set - one of the first to be issued with gum - this Maple Leafs Home Hockey game is extremely rare, and features an endorsement from Hall of Fame announcer Foster Hewitt. At 12" x 25 1/2", the large box top includes two generic players along with flags of each NHL team, with Hewitt's endorsement and facsimile signature over the bottom right as well as the instructions glued to the underside. The contents appear complete and include the playing surface, a die, a puck, a "shooter", and 12 red and blue player pieces (6 of each colour). There is wear, but only minor, with the corners of the box intact, and just a single split to the box lid as well as one corner detached. There is also some minor surface and edge wear to the box top along with a small stain. This is only the second example of this game that we have ever offered.
