Drafted 2nd overall in 1986 by the Los Angeles Kings, Jimmy Carson was part of the famous trade that sent Wayne Gretzky to Los Angeles on August 9th, 1988. Only the second teenager in NHL history to score 50 goals in a season, Carson would register 100 points in 1988-89, his only full season in an Oilers uniform. Selected to the 1989 NHL All-Star Game, the youngster would register a point via an assist on Gary Leeman’s 2nd period goal. Offered here is the jersey worn by Carson during the contest. Made by CCM, a faded “52” size designation is written in ballpoint pen on the Maska Air-Knit tag that is affixed to the inner collar. The CCM logo is embroidered into the rear hem. Styled with a gorgeous NHL shield crest with “12” over the sleeves and verso in layered tackle twill, there is also a row of tackle twill stars that have been placed over the front and reverse lower band, with the 1989 All-Star Game crest atop the right shoulder. “Carson” is spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate on the reverse in single layer black twill letters. Worn for just a single contest, the jersey shows only light game-use with a stick mark over the left sleeve and pilling/frays to the orange sleeve stripes. Pilling is also found on the interior behind the front crest. Of note, the jersey is no longer a bright white and shows stains throughout. Additionally, Carson has signed the back number “2” with the autograph displaying with moderate to heavy fading.
