Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Winter 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/28/2023
Hockey’s first million-dollar man, Bobby Hull shocked the hockey world when he announced that he would be leaving the NHL to accept the offer from the Winnipeg Jets in 1972-73, which included a million-dollar signing bonus. This desirable signed stick saw action in the hands of The Golden Jet during the early-to-mid 1970s, and it features his trademark large curve. A Northland Custom Pro model, “Hull” is stamped over the upper shaft and "9" is handwritten (faded), with a pattern number listed on the underside of the shaft. The original black tape is intact on the blade and over the shaved handle and knob, with Hull adding a modern signature to the upper shaft in black marker, along with "Best Wishes". The blade remains uncracked, with wear to the taped section and additional marks to the shaft from game-use. There is also a fine hairline crack to the shaft, with the stick remaining completely solid with no issues.
