Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021

Shocking the hockey world with his signing with the Winnipeg Jets and WHA after accepting a million dollar sum – seen as a ridiculous amount at the time, Bobby Hull would lead the River City hopefuls in parts of each of the rebel league’s eight seasons, capturing a trio of Avco Cup championships as the WHA’s most successful club. This extremely rare and desirable Jets jersey hails from the inaugural season of 1972-73. Despite not being able to locate any images of these jerseys being used preseason, the Jets first year media guide shows roughly one out of every two players wearing this exact style of jersey (not Hull). A Western Athletic label is affixed to the inside hem, with the vintage durene sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with a red and white team crest that features chain-stitched detailing, Hull’s iconic “9” is sewn to the verso in red-over-white layered tackle twill. The jersey survives in gorgeous like-new condition, with just a few small stains visible on the front band.
