Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/24/2021
A longtime supporter of Maccabi Canada, Jean Beliveau accepted the organizations's invitation to act as the Chef de Mission for the Canadian contingent at the Maccabiah Games in Israel (an important type of Olympics for the Jewish community) in 1985 and made remarked efforts to raise funds to enable young Canadian athletes to attend the Maccabiah Games in 1997. This lot includes a Maccabi Canada Beliveau diploma signed by four Maccabi executives (11” x 14”, loose from its mount, with toning and wear to the mount), a sweatsuit with the Canadian logo, a Starter windbreaker from the ‘97 games and a superb ‘97 Team Canada hockey jersey with Beliveau's name and number, signed over the reverse numbers in black marker. (produced by CCM with tackle twill team crest). Also impressive is a book produced for a Beliveau tribute night in 1996 and filled with congratulatory letters, as well as photos of the honoree, with Jean signing a page with his photo. A super lot for those of the Jewish faith, it will come in a Team Canada tote bag from the ‘97 Games.
