Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2019
Extremely popular with the people of New England throughout his time with the Boston Bruins, Ray Bourque was gifted a number of jerseys from different clubs throughout his career, and we offer a group of 8 from his personal collection, along with three framed displays. The jerseys include two NHL Alumni sweaters, 2000 and 2004 NHL All-Star Game souvenir examples, a Hershey Bears 2018 80th anniversary jersey, a Bruins jersey with Garnet "Ace" Bailey patch, a New England Revolution (MLS) jersey crested with Bourque's name and an Aerosmith tour jersey signed by Bourque. The frames include one from the 2000 All-Star Game, one with a 1990s Bruins team photo and one picturing a youthful Bourque during his time with the Verdun Hawks of the QMJHL in the late-1970s. A signed LOA from Ray Bourque will accompany. A portion of the sales from the Ray Bourque personal collection will benefit the Bourque Family Foundation.
Most of the jerseys display well with no issues. The Revolution soccer jersey has a bit of staining along the collar, and we should note that the Bruins jersey with Bailey patch was most likely worn by Bourque in the OldTimers Hockey Challenge in 2012 vs a Law Enforcement team. The 2004 All-Star jersey and Aerosmith tour jersey have both been signed by Bourque over the front, with the latter signature somewhat faded. The 2000 ASG frame is 21 ½” x 29 ½”, the Verdun Hawks frame is 18” x 24” – with damage to the glass and wear and possibly water damage to the photo, and the Bruins team photo is 11” x 14”, framed to just under 18” x 22” (loose in frame), with the frame made from Bourque hockey sticks! All three frames also exhibit wear.
