Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Meeting in the 1976 Grey Cup game at Exhibition Stadium in Toronto, the Ottawa Rough Riders defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 23-20, with the game widely considered one of the greatest championship matches in the history of the CFL. It would be the last Ottawa victory until the Redblacks, in 2016. We have a pair of jerseys, with each club represented. First, we have an Ottawa jersey worn by Lybrant Robinson in the early-1990s (played 1991 to 1994), with a Saxon label affixed to the collar, and a second laundering tag listing “XL” sizing. “98” appears over the front, reverse and sleeves in solid black with red trim heat-pressed numbers, with the sleeve’s striping bands and team logos rubberized. “L. Robinson” appears over the affixed nameplate in single black vinyl letters, with evidence visible of a former nameplate. The jersey shows heavy wear, with a few marks and scrapes present, along with numerous team repairs over each shoulder and the reverse. The Saskatchewan jersey was worn by Todd Brown in the late-1980s (played 1987 & 1988), with a Russell label including “44” sizing over the lower front. All identifiers including the numbers and team logos have been rubberized, with “T Brown” over the affixed nameplate in vinyl heat-pressed letters. Light to moderate use is exhibited, with wear to the identifiers and some cracking to the letters over the nameplate.
