Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
First recognized as the Nationals in 1965, the London Knights have dominated the OHL’s Midwest Division throughout the 2000s, with Memorial Cup championships won in 2005 and 2016. A number of notable players have been “Knighted”, including Darryl Sittler, Brendan Shanahan and Corey Perry. We have a Knights jersey that originates from the early-to-mid-1970s, with a few different players donning the number #15 sweater during the era, including Lou Nistico in 1970-71 and 1971-72, Max Carter in 1973-74 and Dwight Schofield in 1974-75. A mostly detached Wilson label with “48” sizing is affixed to the inside of the tie-neck collar (the collar string is most likely a replacement), with the vintage durene sweater sporting an attractive team crest with chain-stitched detailing, with “15” over the sleeves and verso in green-over-yellow tackle twill.
A few marks and streaks of paint transfer are present over the lower front and sleeves, along with a small rust-coloured stain just above the front band. Fabric pulls are also visible throughout, with a small stain over the left shoulder and a pair of diminutive team repairs on the lower reverse.
