Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

Rick Morris’ 1975-76 Denver Spurs game-worn jersey featuring a spectacular team crest is among the first WHA gamers worn by the ill-fated Colorado franchise during their first and only season in the rebel league. The Rawlings size 48 and Giesler-Jorgen tagging inside the hem identifies this gamer with a garter-style fight strap as the set that was recycled from the 1974-75 Spurs, who played in the CHL. There are three circular team repairs on the front, which has big black marks above and below the multi-twill Spurs crest that features intricate embroidery. We count about a baker’s dozen of team repairs in all, including the sleeve and back. There is red and blue paint transfer on the hem and evidence of a former nameplate on the back. The WHA Spurs subsequently wore Wilson and BH Sport tagged jerseys, at least until the franchise folded for good later that season after a two-game stint as the Ottawa Civics.
