Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019

One of the more desirable Calgary Flames jerseys we’ve ever offered, we have Lanny McDonald's 1985-86 game-worn and photo-matched captain's jersey from a season that saw the 1992 HOF inductee notch 71 points in 80 games played. Featuring Lanny's retired #9 over the reverse and both sleeves and the captain's "C" on the left breast, all in red and gold double twill, as well as the slightly banged up triple twill flaming "C" crest over the front. The captain's "C" is stitched on by hand and the outline of a previously removed "C" or alternate captain's "A" is evident as Lanny shared the captaincy with Doug Risebrough and Jim Peplinski during the era, with the letter frequently affixed and removed from the jersey. Inside the collar are “Ultrafil” and born-on date "85 07" tags, and a red and yellow (with a small asterisk) CCM patch sewn on the right rear tail. Advancing to the Stanley Cup finals this very season, McDonald would net 18 points including 11 goals in just 22 playoff games. An LOA along with a COR from MeiGray will accompany.
Nice game wear includes plenty of black marks on the front (including the crest) and on both sleeves, along with paint transfer and board burns on the sleeves, numerous small holes and slashes to the sleeves, puckering on the team crest, nameplate, and numbers, and inside pilling. Getty Image #85486275 from Jan 6th 1986 has been matched to the board burn/team repair on the right shoulder and to some of the black marks in the "9" on the same sleeve, while an included numeric image showing Lanny wearing the alternate captain's "A" has been matched to the board burn/team repair on the right shoulder and to some of the black marks in the "9" on the same sleeve. A second included numeric image is also photo-matched to the board burn/team repair on the right shoulder and to some of the black marks in the "9" on the same sleeve, as well as the big black mark at the left of the "9".
