Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
When polled in the mid-1980’s regarding what player they’d pick to start an NHL franchise with, General Managers selected Dale Hawerchuk third, behind only Wayne Gretzky and Paul Coffey. This KOHO Custom Pro model stick was game-used by Hawerchuk during his rookie season in 1981-82. With the original tape jobs on the blade and upper shaft, “Hawerchuk” is stamped on the shaft along with a date-code on the underside of “Aou 31 1981”. A ton of game-use is visible, including wear to the bottom section of the taped blade, as well as a number of puck marks on the lower portion of the stick. Hawerchuk has also added a nice black marker signature to the upper shaft, and it shows signs of slight fading. In very good condition overall, this well-used rookie-era gamer from a Hall of Famer is just...Ducky.
