This Titan Pro with “W. Gretzky” stamped in red on the shaft is a rare 1979-80 game-used stick from the Great One's first NHL season with the Edmonton Oilers. Wayne, who was not eligible for the Calder Trophy, had 137 points to tie for the league lead with Marcel Dionne, who claimed the Art Ross Trophy by virtue of having scored 53 goals, two more than Gretz's 51. The edges of the shaft of this Gretzky rookie gamer have been shaved and Wayne's No. 99 is handwritten on the upper shaft below his well-worn original tape job on the knob. A few strands of black bulldog tape are missing from Wayne’s tape job on the blade, which was originally a 3-inch strip he used in his rookie season only.
