Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007

Sensational rink relic was donned by veteran goaltender Marcel Paille towards the end of his lengthy professional career, one which saw the Shawinigan Falls, Quebec native perform admirably as a 41-year old with the AHL Richmond Robins in 1973-74. A copy of a Richmond News Leader article dated March 21, 1974 pictures Paille wearing this mask and details his “biggest effort of the season” in a win over Baltimore. Classic Ernie Higgins mask reminds us of the one worn by Boston Bruin Eddie Johnston and shows significant game use. Scrapes, puck marks, numerous hairline cracks and sweat-stained interior padding are there, to go along with the darkened “Cooper DMH” elastic and leather straps. Rock solid fiberglass creation is intriguing to hold and a must for a serious goalie mask display.
