Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/27/2007
One of the most aesthetically impressive of all Team USA jerseys over the years, this one was produced for the first Canada Cup tournament in 1976. Stunning stretchy knit jersey by Wilson has a company tag in the neck indicating size 44, with a Gunzo’s tag also present. A blue thread, chain-stitched “76” year tag is sewn in the inner hip area. The white stars and the red and blue number “6”s on the back and sleeves are in tackle twill and sewn-on. Chain-stitching on tackle twill is responsible for that awesome Team USA crest on the front. No one wore number 6 during the tournament; this one was an extra jersey given to tournament organizer Alan Eagleson by the Americans. Preserved in close to like-new condition with just a likely launderable dirty area on the back (near the left sleeve’s seam), this is a must have for a Team USA jersey collection. Alan Eagleson’s signed letter of authenticity will be included with this gorgeous jersey.
