Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - March 2007

The Big E, Eric Lindros, was the big talk in the hockey world in the early-1990s before he had played a single NHL game and this CCM white air-knit Team Canada jersey that he wore in the ’91 Canada Cup exhibits big-time signs of international hockey battles. Lindros certainly wasn’t out of place alongside established NHL stars, physically intimidating opponents and contributing three goals and two assists in eight tournament games, helping Canada to top honors. Maska and size 54 tags are in the neck here while Eric’s surname across the nameplate and his number “88” sewn on the back are in red tackle twill. With screened-on red logos, the jersey shows that Lindros mixed it up plenty, with the sleeves plastered with black stick marks and several red and blue paint transfers. Significant red paint stains are also present near the CCM logo on the rear hem. Two small holes/slices on each sleeve, a dozen black hook/slash marks on the front, a few more on the back and good interior pilling in the elbow areas also contribute to the terrific game use for a tournament jersey. Another highlight of Alan Eagleson’s jersey collection, it will come with his signed letter of authenticity.
