A master of the hip-check, Brian Glennie had an outstanding junior career with the OHA’s Toronto Marlboros, captaining the club to a Memorial Cup championship in 1967. Following the completion of his junior career, Glennie would join the Canadian National Team program run by Father David Bauer, representing Canada at the 1968 Grenoble Winter Olympics and winning a bronze medal. Hailing from his personal collection is this grouping of patches and medals from his Memorial Cup win in 1967 and time as an Olympian in 1968. The crown jewel, is a participation medal from the games. Marked "1967 Bronze" on its edge and measuring 2 5/8" the medal shows stamped engravings of the city of Grenoble, the city's Olympic logo, the wordings "Grenoble 1968" and 10th Olympic Winter Games in French along the bottom. Also included is an additional medal badge related to the 1968 Olympics that is stamped “Grenoble 1967” along the bottom with two snowflakes made out of hockey stick and skate blades and the other of ski’s found over top. Stamped “LR Paris” on the back, the badge measures 2 ½” x 1 ¾” and is in good condition with some surface wear on both sides. The last item related to the Games, is a Team Canada Grenoble 1968 patch. Removed from a coat/jacket with a green coloured backing, the patch displays the maple leaf above the Olympic rings and “Grenoble 1968”. Measuring 2” x 3 ¾”, the patch is in good condition with dirt marks and aging exhibited. A second patch is also included, this time related to Glennie’s 1967 Memorial Cup win. A large Marlboros team patch with chenille and chainstitched details above “Memorial Cup Champs” in matching style, the patch remains in good condition while showing some toning and aging. Having been removed from a jacket/coat, the dimensions come out to approx. 5 ½” x 6 ½” at its largest points. A family LOA will accompany the group.
