Bringing a certain “Broad Street Bully” element to Detroit during his tenure, Bob Probert proved to be hard as nails, and was recognized as one of the toughest players in modern history while also adept at putting the puck in the net. Signing with the Chicago Blackhawks after nine seasons in the Motor City, offered here is this stick used by Probert as a member of the Windy City Gang in the mid-1990s. A Hespeler 5500 model originally made for teammate Joe Murphy, the ”J. Murphy” name stamp on the upper shaft has been blacked out with marker and Probert’s “24” has been penned above in matching ink. The stick retains its original tape job of red cloth-over-white on the handle/knob and black over the blade while the man who sits 5th all-time in penalty minutes has signed the heel with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. The stick shows moderate game-use via numerous marks/abrasions over the entire length of the shaft, with a handwritten “859.3” found on the underside near the heel. A chip/dent is found near the middle of the shaft while the blade tape shows small tears on both sides as well as a rip along the bottom edge.
