The dominant team in the all-Canadian division that was in place for the 2020-21 National Hockey League season, Auston Matthews potted 41 goals in 52 games played to claim his first Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy as the NHL’s leading goal scorer. From his 27th goal of the season and 185th of his young career is this goal puck that Matthew’s tickled the twine with at 10:50 of the 3rd period on April 5th, 2021 against the Calgary Flames on the road at the Scotiabank Saddledome. His second of the game, the marker would serve as the game winner as the Leafs defeated the Flames 5-3. The goal would be assisted by both John Tavares and Zach Hyman with the point by Tavares being the 800th of his career since he entered the league. The “Official Goal Puck” features the Flames “Blasty” reverse retro logo on the obverse with the NHL shield found on the opposite side. Tape has been added along the side that has “TOR Goal – Matthews 4/5/21 – TOR @ 10:50 of 3rd” handwritten in black marker. Exhibiting a peculiar surface spotting, the biscuit shows light surface wear with abrasions present. The puck will come in a Flames holder with the particulars all listed on an accompanying COA.
