Playing three (3) seasons with his hometown Grums IK before moving on to the top flight Västra Frölunda IF between 1970 and 1975, Willy Lindstrom would make his North American debut in the World Hockey Association as a member of the Winnipeg Jets in 1975, winning a trio of AVCO World Cups over a four (4) year span. Transitioning into the National Hockey League with the Jets for the 1979-80 season and going on to play a total of 582 NHL games with the likes of Winnipeg, Edmonton and Pittsburgh, winning Stanley Cups with the Oilers in 1984 and 1985, Lindstrom would return home to Sweden in 1987 and play three (3) seasons with Brynäs IF in the SHL to close out his career. A two-time bronze medalist with Team Sweden at the IIHF World Championships and the MVP at the 1977 WHA All-Star Game, offered here is this Pittsburgh Penguins jersey worn by Lindstrom during the 1985-86 season, his first of two (2) seasons in the Steel City. A mesh construction offering made by Cooper with brand, size "Large" and CAHA Approved labels affixed to the inner collar, both the Cooper and Century Sports logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Of note, the jersey is identifiable as being a 1985-86 offering instead of a 1986-87 based on the fact that the embroidered Cooper logo that appears over the reverse hem straddles both the yellow and black stripes whereas in 1986-87 the logo was done lower and fully within the yellow stripe. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a familiar screened-on Penguins team crest, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been accented with Lindstrom's number "19" in dual layer black-over-yellow heat-pressed numerals. Having had "Lindstrom" spelt out in single layer black heat-pressed letters across the affixed matching mesh nameplate at the top of the reverse and featuring a loop style fight strap on the interior, the sleeves of the jersey have been shortened to Lindstrom's liking. Displaying with excellent game-wear, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves, small board burns are present over the front hem and both sleeves as well. Also showing numerous team repairs over the lower front and both sleeves, with the heaviest concentration found over the left elbow, the interior of the jersey displays good pilling also. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Lindstrom will accompany the piece.
