Canadian football legend Tommy Joe Coffey was presented with this awesome original Tex Coulter portrait as the runner-up for the 1970 Schenley Award as the CFL's Most Outstanding Player. The Hall of Fame receiver and kicker is posed kneeling in his familiar number 75 Hamilton Tiger-Cats uniform. Coffey’s name is engraved on a gold-colored plaque in the shape of the Schenley Award that was attached directly onto Coulter's portrait. The artist's familiar "Tex" signature appears in the bottom left corner of his 28” x 22” original painting on board, which is tastefully mounted in a 34” x 28” wood frame. The Schenley plaque has fine detail including the trophy’s name on the barrel, and “Most Outstanding Player, Tommy Joe Coffey, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Runner-Up 1970” engraved on the bottom. It measures 8” x 4” at its tallest and widest and it is attached to the painting by two screws in the back. This remarkable and very personal piece of art comes along with Tommy Joe Coffey’s signed letter of authenticity.
