The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Outstanding international hockey relic, this vase stands just over 8" high and is 34 ounces of pure silver. Our consignor informs us that it's from the 1931 World Championships and was awarded to the top player of the tournament, which was won by Canada. Engraved on the front is "Mistzostwo Swiata w Hokeju Na LODZIE - Krynica 1931 - Nagroda Krynicy". The trophy was obtained from the goalie of the 10-man Canadian team which was made up entirely of players from the University of Manitoba Grads. Preserved in excellent condition with a couple of slight indentations in each of the base, body and rim, the vase is a little over 6" in diameter. A splendid, never-before-seen award. *startred*The inscriptions on the trophy mean in English: "Championships, Hockey on Ice, Award, Kryncia 1931". Also, Kryncia, Poland was the host city for the 1931 World hockey Championships. *endred*
