The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Sensational memento from the landmark Canada-Russia Summit Series in 1972, this Gary Bergman Northland stick looks to be from Team Canada's training camp and likely used during the Reds vs. Whites inter-squad games. We count 25 ballpoint signatures including Orr, Henderson, Cournoyer, Dryden, Tony "O", Clarke, Park, Mikita, Ratelle, Pete Mahovlich, Hull, Berenson, Bergman, Ellis, Glennie, Tallon, Redmond, Martin, Cashman, Johnston, Awrey, coach Sinden, training camp invitees Billy Harris and John Van Boxmeer. Most autographs are nice and legible although the Orr is somewhat weak. Bergman's original knob tape job in black tape is still present while it appears a few wraps of white in two areas has replaced the original black blade tape. Stamped "Bergman" on the front of the shaft, the stick exhibits a couple of time cracks in the blade but remains solid. Special keepsake from a special time in hockey history will be accompanied by a LOA.
