This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
One of hockey's first great stars, Edouard "Newsy" Lalonde was an outstanding athlete who was named Canada's top lacrosse player of the first half-century in 1950. "Newsy" could golf too and signed this entry form for the NHL's 1928 Golf Tournament. It reads "Please enter my name as a competitor in the National Hockey League Tournament to be held at Laval-sur-le-Lac, Montreal, Monday, June 11th, 1928". Lalonde did not enter his handicap and signed the NHL letterhead "Ed. C. Lalonde" in black fountain pen. Intriguing document signed by one of hockey's legendary figures.
