The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Superb vintage pro style goalie mitts are endorsed by Hall of Fame goaltender Alex Connell who starred with the Ottawa Senators in the late 1920's, helping them to a Stanley Cup in 1927. Known for registering 6 straight shutouts, Connell also backstopped the Montreal Maroons to the Cup title in ‘35. The last part of Connell's facsimile signature can be deciphered on the front of each of these gloves which show moderate use but remain in excellent condition. Produced by "Holdens" of Ottawa and with wooden slats to protect the wrist and forearm areas, they're a great example of the era's goalie gear.
