The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Not since 1938 had the Chicago Black Hawks claimed the Stanley Cup, when Bobby Hull, Stan Mikita, Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote and a fine supporting cast sipped champagne from the precious bowl in April of 1961. The Black Hawks knocked-off the 5-time defending champion Canadiens in 6 semi-final games before doing the same to the Red Wings in the finals. Hull (game 1) and Mikita (game 5) each scored game-winning goals in the finals while Ab McDonald had the distinction of scoring the Cup-winner in the 5-1 clincher at the Detroit Olympia. This gold pendant charm was given to Bobby Hull's wife Joanne and is identical to the tableau on Bobby's Stanley Cup ring. A raised gold Black Hawks logo is surrounded by 10 diamonds and the words that Chicago hockey fans waited so long to hear, "Black Hawks World Champions". Stamped on the back "Balfour 10K", the magnificent memento has been preserved in gorgeous condition with minor scratching to the back to mention. A letter of authenticity will be included with this rare treasure.
