Exceptional piece of vintage lumber was yielded rather early in Hall-of-Famer Bill Cowley's 13-year NHL career. Cowley was in his third season with the Bruins in ‘37-38 after breaking-in and playing one year with the St. Louis Eagles. The center led the Bruins in scoring for the second of six times in his career. Known more for his deft passing skills than for scoring goals, Cowley twice was named the league's MVP and helped the Bruins to Stanley Cup titles in ‘39 and ‘41. He eventually overtook Syd Howe for most career points, regular season and playoffs combined. As for the stick, it is an absolute "killer", having been preserved in outstanding condition. The knob tape job and the dozens of wraps of black tape around the lower shaft and blade are impeccable. Cowley's number "10" in small pencil appears on the front of the shaft. The signature of the Bruins legend on the side nearby begins a line of 19 down the side of the shaft. Other legends making for a tantalizing piece are Tiny Thompson, Eddie Shore, Dit Clapper, Bobby Bauer, Woody Dumart, Milt Schmidt and even coach Art Ross. Also signing were Jack Portland (twice), Gordon Pettinger, Bill Hollett, Art Jackson, "Roy" Goldsworthy, "Chas." Sands, Ray Getliffe, "Hammy" Moore and Dr. Crotty. Pencil signatures are amazingly still nice and bold thanks to a thin layer of shellac. Simply put, formidable, museum worthy piece. A LOA will be included.
