The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Although they finished third in the ‘78-79 regular season, the Winnipeg Jets successfully defended their Avco Cup championship in the playoffs, sweeping the Nordiques before taking care of Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers in a 6-game Avco Cup final. For the third time in four years, members of the Jets received miniature replicas of the Avco World Trophy. Robert Guindon's personal memento features his name engraved on a metal plaque below the name of the trophy while the entire Jets roster appears on a plaque on the opposite side. The trophy stands just under 13" high and is topped off by a silver bowl which sits atop a globe suspended in clear Lucite. Produced by Balfour, the award is in fantastic near mint condition and marks the WHA's last season. Bob Guindon will sign a LOA that will be included with this magnificent piece of WHA history.
