The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Sensational artwork was done is pastels in the 1960's and used for a promotion by Steinberg grocery stores. During the ‘65-66 season shoppers could obtain thermal plastic tumblers through the stores. Twelve different Montreal Canadiens players were featured on the glasses with both a portrait and an action shot. The artwork itself measures about 22" x 15" has been framed and then matted in red and framed again. Signed by both Gump Worsley and the artist and dated ‘65, the work is a special, one of a kind item. An engraved metal plaque in the red matting reads "Lorne Worsley". The exterior wooden frame needs a touch of repair at the bottom two corners. Gump Worsley's signed letter of authenticity will accompany this tantalizing work.
