The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005

Absolutely sensational first year St. Louis Blues home jersey comes from defenceman Noel Picard who was originally an assistant captain but who relates the story of how after a disagreement with coach Scotty Bowman, he had the "A" removed. The square shoulders here, only worn by the Blues in their initial season, are another indicator of the ‘67-68 season. A Rawlings company tag in the lower inner hem indicates size 48 and is beside a washing instructions tag. A tri-color tackle twill Blues crest is sewn on the front as are the numbers on the back and sleeves. Nice game use here with significant rectangular team repairs on the left shoulder, right sleeve and left sleeve, where 2 quarter-size repairs are near the cuff. There's a dime-size repair on the front, to the left and parallel with the base of the "blue note". Marks on the sleeves include red board/post paint at the right elbow and on the right shoulder's "4". Nice pilling, both inside and out, is also to mention. Tremendous dureen jersey from a special season in hockey history will appeal to many. Noel Picard's signed letter of authenticity, along with a photo of him wearing the jersey, will accompany this remarkable treasure.
