The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Classic Art Ross Tyer puck is mounted on a simple square wooden plaque and has "344" added to the rubber-crested logo, along with Maurice Richard's number "9" just below. The back of the plaque reads "M Richard 344 Pts" in black marker. The memento was a gift from the Rocket to Jean Beliveau, although Mr. Beliveau cannot recall what the particular milestone was. Richard would have reached the 344 career point plateau during the 1948-49 season. We believe the point moved him past another player on the all-time list, although we haven't been able to pinpoint the player in question and are not sure whether it was the NHL's all-time list or that of the Canadiens. At any rate, the puck's two owners have been Richard and Beliveau. We think that's appealing enough! Jean Beliveau's signed LOA will accompany this splendid relic.
