The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Evidence that a hockey player's career is rarely injury-free is in this intriguing and unique lot. Jean Beliveau suffered an injury in the 1968 playoffs that required a cast up to the right knee and which denied him the chance to be in uniform for the home-ice Stanley Cup-clinching win against the St. Louis Blues. The cast was later made into this one-of-a-kind ashtray. Dozens of people signed the cast although the only notables who we can make out are Beliveau's daughter Helene and Hall of Fame referee Red Storey. Two pair of crutches, one of which supported Beliveau as he accepted the ‘68 Stanley Cup, are included here and all four have been autographed in blue sharpie by Beliveau. Cool oddball stuff from hockey's most respected performer who will also autograph a LOA that will be included.
