The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
The accolades were many when Jean Beliveau officially announced his retirement from the NHL on June 9, 1971. Knowing that the announcement was coming, the Montreal Expos baseball team organized a special night for the national hero at old Jarry Park. A gorgeous golden Gabriel Lucas clock was presented to Beliveau, with engraving across the top that reads "From The Montreal Expos Players and Coaching Staff to Jean Beliveau On A Well Deserved Night at Jarry Park - June 9, 1971". Two photos of Willie Mays with Beliveau include a Mays-autographed laminated one. The next day newspaper pictures the two heros on the cover and an album prepared by the Expos features 35 wonderful photos from the memorable night. These fabulous mementos will be accompanied by Jean Beliveau's signed LOA.
