The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
An avid fisherman when he got the chance, Jean Beliveau did indeed take advantage of his somewhat less hectic pace after his playing days were over to go after "the big one". This lot includes three fishing rods including the Garcia rod (with an engraved metal plaque on the case) he was presented with on Jean Beliveau night in March of 1971. Most impressive are the photos of the 790 pound bluefin tuna Beliveau hooked and landed off of Nova Scotia in September of 1974. A certificate detailing the catch is included as are articles from the previous September revealing that Beliveau was a member of the Canadian team which competed in the 24th International Tuna Cup Match, again in Nova Scotia. A few photos from other fishing excursions, including one with Maurice Richard, round out this fascinating lot. The multi-talented Jean Beliveau will sign a LOA that will be included.
