The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Superb Lucite paperweight-like affair is from one of the most exciting hockey games in history. It was played December 31st, 1975, at the Montreal Forum and pitted the powerful Central Red Army team of the Soviet Union against the Montreal Canadiens, a team about to reel off four straight Stanley Cup championships. Barring all-star teams, this was the first clash between the two countries' top teams. Although the Canadiens dominated the play, the outstanding performance of Vladislav Tretiak resulted in a 3-3 tie. This souvenir stands 5" high and features Canadiens, NHL, NHLPA and Russian logos. Measuring 2" thick at the base, the memento is in like-new condition and is from Jean Beliveau's personal collection. Mr. Beliveau will sign a LOA that will be included with this rarely offered piece.
