The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Outstanding and historic photo was taken by renowned photographer David Bier on Montreal Forum ice. The first row only includes Hall-of-Famers! Cheevers, Mahovlich, Hull, Beliveau, Blake (who came out of retirement for the game), Howe, Mikita and Giacomin are joined by second row-ers Horton and Orr (wearing #2), while Gilbert and Esposito can be spotted in the top row. The photo itself measures 9 1/2" x 7 1/2". Included is a letter to Jean Beliveau from the NHL's Brian O'Neill which reads "Dear Jean: We are pleased to send you this portrait of the 1968-69 East Division All-Star team which will serve as a memento of your participation in the game. As you are aware, this was the first All-Star Game between the Divisions and, accordingly, this souvenir should have special historical significance". Surprisingly, the west held the east to a 3-3 tie. Frank Mahovlich's 2 goals earned him MVP honors. Jean Beliveau's signed LOA will accompany this terrific All-Star memorabilia.
