The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Talk about a talked-about hockey player! The ink that flowed to describe Jean Beliveau's life on and off the ice for over 20 years is truly remarkable. The 18 volumes here were put together over the years by Jean and his wife Elise. His fabulous career in print and pictures is fascinating to say the least. Newspaper articles, magazine covers (including his 1956 Sports Illustrated "proof" cover), Canadiens team photos - it' all in there. Intriguing is the coverage of his prolific junior and senior career in Quebec City and the speculation surrounding his arrival in Montreal. There are dozens of congratulatory telegrams and a neat ‘51-52 Quebec Aces team-signed Alexander Trophy banquet menu. There are also full newspapers following Jean Beliveau Night in 1971. Months of, at times, jaw-dropping reading await the lucky high bidder here. Content is in both French and English with an emphasis on French. Jean Beliveau's signed LOA will accompany this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, along with a 1950's photo of the Beliveaus checking out one of the scrapbooks.
