The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
In his 1994 autobiography, Jean Beliveau refers to his second decade with the Canadiens as the "neglected sixties" since the majority of the players pictured here who helped the Canadiens win 4 Stanley Cups in 5 years are usually forgotten when the gamegreat dynasties are discussed. Beliveau had another fine year as he (9th) and linemate Yvan Cournoyer (6th) finished among the league scoring leaders before the Habs beat the Rangers (4 games), the Bruins (6) and the Blues (4) in the playoffs, with Serge Savard becoming the first defenceman to win the Conn Smythe Trophy. Included in this collage which was only given to team members are rookie coach Claude Ruel and future Hall-of-Famer Tony Esposito. This one has some creases, mostly around the edges, and a 1-inch tear in the bottom middle border. Matting and framing will be able to crop most of the flaws out. Scarce piece will come with a LOA signed by Jean Beliveau.
