The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
WOW is the word that one blurts out at the sight of this one! What a fabulous photo of the best player in the world not to be playing in the NHL during the 1951-52 hockey season. Details on the back of this never-before-seen shot reveal that Beliveau is standing with Jack Latter and Charlie Smith, the men who ran the Aces from 1936-37 on. Also thought-provoking is the view of the Coliseum seats in the background which Beliveau filled night after night as he dominated Quebec senior hockey for two seasons while Montreal Canadiens' management drooled! The back quotes Frank Selke as saying (once Beliveau signed with the Canadiens) that "Beliveau is as much a credit to his race as to hockey". Some roughness to the black wooden frame to mention but you can quote us......."so what!" Exceptional photo will be accompanied by a LOA signed by the man loved in both Quebec City and Montreal.
