The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Morenz, the Rocket, Beliveau, Harvey, the Pocket Rocket, Plante and Lafleur. These are the Canadiens' legends who have had their numbers retired by the storied franchise. This is the jersey that was presented to Jean Beliveau by none other than Toe Blake on the night that Beliveau's number "4" banner was lifted to the rafters of the Montreal Forum. Sensational red dureen tie-down jersey is not tagged but measures out to size 50. The Habs' crest and the number "4"s on the back and sleeves are sewn-on and are a satiny material. The blue on these has become purplish over the years, otherwise the jersey is in close-to-perfect condition. On display for years at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, the shirt includes an inventory tag on the inner left cuff. From Mr. Beliveau's personal collection, this fabulous jersey will be accompanied by his signed letter of authenticity and by a photo from the ceremony in which Aurele Joliat was also honored.
