The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
An important milestone in Jean Beliveau's career came Wednesday, December 18, 1963 as his 324th career goal tied him with Nels Stewart as the all-time goal-getter amongst centers and 5th overall. Beliveau's 2nd of the game and 14th of the season came at 5:54 of the 3rd period and was Montreal's last goal in a 7-3 victory over the visiting Maple Leafs. Jean rifled a 30-footer that just beat Johnny Bower inside the post. Bernie Geoffrion and Gilles Tremblay drew the assists. Beliveau had opened the game's scoring in the 1st period and later added an assist for a memorable night. Jean's CCM Custom Pro model stick has "Beliveau 4" and "McNiece's" stamped on the front of the shaft, where "324 buts" was added in blue marker. The same "324 buts" appears on one side of the shaft. The original black tape is wrapped around the blade while white covers black to form Beliveau's standard knob tape job. Cherished and preserved in outstanding condition for over 40 years, the stick shows nice game use with three time cracks in the tip of the blade to mention. Another highlight of Jean Beliveau's personal stick collection, this tempting relic will be accompanied by his signed letter of authenticity.
