The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
This is the puck that Montreal Canadiens team captain Jean Beliveau used to become only the second player in history to reach the 1000 career point mark in regular season play. The lofty milestone was reached Sunday, March 3, 1968 at Detroit's Olympia, where the other 1000-point club member, Gordie Howe, had accomplished many of his feats. On the power play just under 5 minutes into the game, Beliveau beat Roger Crozier for his 424th career goal and 1000th point, Bobby Rousseau and Dick Duff assisting on the goal. The early Converse Red Wings game puck has rubber-crested logos both front and back and later had "1000 - Pts" and the date added in gold ink by Beliveau. Puck is in exceptional condition with no nicks or chips. The high bidder can decide if and how to mount the puck on the special plaque we've had made at the request of Mr. Beliveau. A LOA signed by Jean Beliveau will accompany this wonderful piece of hockey history.
