The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
Hockey's premier center of the late 1950's, Jean Beliveau reached the milestone of 500 career points on Thursday, January 29, 1960 in Detroit. After assisting on Marcel Bonin's 1st period goal, Beliveau rifled this puck past Terry Sawchuk at 1:18 of the 3rd. It was his 9th game-winning goal of the season (the Habs beat the Wings 4-2) and his 64 points gave him the league scoring lead ahead of Bronco Horvath. Montreal made it 14 straight wins at the Olympia with Henri Richard contributing 2 goals. The Art Ross Tyer/CCM game puck had "500 points - Detroit - 1960" added in ballpoint to one of the rubber logos and then later the same in gold ink was penned on the puck. In outstanding condition with a small edge chip, the terrific souvenir will be accompanied by Jean Beliveau's signed LOA.
