The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
In a tradition dating back to 1959 when 31 of 34 living members of the Hockey Hall of Fame gathered in Toronto to receive their Hall of Fame crests, this framed crest was presented to one of the greatest men ever to skate on NHL rinks. The deciders at the Hall waived the normal 3-year waiting period after one's career ends and elected both Jean Beliveau and Gordie Howe in 1972. The handsome crest is contained in a 7 1/2" square black wooden frame upon which a brass plate is engraved "Jean Beliveau - Elected June 1972". Some of the players who played against him still contend that Beliveau is the greatest centerman ever to play the game. Representing years of formidable performances, this special keepsake is in near mint condition and will come with Mr. Beliveau's signed LOA.
