The Jean Beliveau Auction- February 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/22/2005
A superb souvenir from a special night held in 1956 in honor of Jean Beliveau is dear to his heart as it will be for those who were in attendance. The people of Victoriaville had good reason to honor and to be extremely proud of their native son, for the ‘55-56 season saw the young man achieve superstar status in the hockey world. Beliveau won the NHL scoring championship, was named the league's most valuable player and led the Montreal Canadiens to the first of five consecutive Stanley Cup titles. Quite a season indeed. The wooden plaque presented to Beliveau on that special night is similar in shape to the NHL logo and measures approximately 7" x 9". Bronze applied to the wood features ramparts at the top with "Fete Jean Beliveau 1956" arched above. Beneath a coat of arms is "Domine Dirige Nos - Ville de Victoriaville". A small brass plate below has Jean Beliveau's name engraved into it. Superb memento from a formidable evening has been cherished for close to 50 years by Mr. Beliveau. His signed letter of authenticity will be included.
